Spotlight on the Zombie Peel Promo

Our ZOMBIE PEEL EVENT for Wednesday Oct 29th created a bit of a buzz. (Yeah, happy dance) . But I could have been clearer on what clients could expect. I got carried away with the artsy side of it. My 1st vid - the zombie peel.  It was a blast creating this video, obvious from the campy-ness of the whole thing. But I didn't explain what it was, who its for, how its applied or what happens after the peel. To my dear clients, thank you for your questions, critiques and patience. Here is the info you have been requesting.

What is it?

Zombie Peel is a chemical peel that removes the upper layers of the epidermis to reveal the smoother, brighter skin underneath. The theory is that while the upper layers endured environmental damage, the deeper layers where protected and are in better shape

Who should get it?

1.  It is an excellent peel for premature signs of aging such as fine lines, dark spots, uneven texture and sagging. It is also ideal for clients with acne, especially adult acne and those with the annoying under the skin bumps.

Is there anything I need to know or do before the peel?

1. If you haven't received a chemical peel at Tuscany Spa we require you come in before the day of your peel for a patch test and consultation to make sure you are a good candidate. Why? We don't want you to be the ONE person we meet that is allergic to the peeling agents.
2. DO NOT USE ANYTHING EXFOLIATING ONE WEEK BEFORE THE PEEL. E.g.: Glycolic, Retinol, RetinA including Differin, Tazorack, Salicylic Acid, Lactic Acid and Scrubs. At the bare minimum stop 3 days before the peel but a week is preferred.
3. DO NOT GET EXCESS SUN EXPOSURE OR SUN BURN - because we will NOT do any kind of peel on over-exposed or burned skin. It is completely counter-productive and harmful.
4. Please actually read the paperwork we have you sign. Let us know if there are any concerns.

What happens during the peel? 

Prepping for the Zombie Peel

1. The procedure is pretty straightforward. The steps are Cleanse, Degrease/Prep, Protect sensitive areas: eyes, Apply Peel with a fan brush in Layers, Apply Moisturizer/SPF.
2. The peel will feel warm during application and you will feel as if you've been over-exposed to the sun. It is not painful, but can feel like little pin-pricks across your skin.
3. Your skin will feel dry and a bit tight for 2 days.
4. Peel is left on Overnight or for at least 8 hours.
   
   

What do I need to know or do after the peel?

1. Home care is a basic gentle cleanser, post peel ointment and sunscreen for at least 5 days.
2. You will start peeling Exactly 48 hours after the peel application. Day 3 the mouth starts to shed. Day 4 around the eyes. Day 5 the forehead, temples, jaw. By day 5 you look mostly flaking like your are getting over a sunburn peel. 
3. Continue to protect your skin from the sun but after a week you can return to your normal skin care routine with smoother, clearer, brighter skin.

Why is it called a ZOMBIE PEEL?

First off I need to take the blame for the name. I planned the promotional event for Wednesday Oct 29th. So by Friday the 31st your face will be peeling and you can tell you boss and co-workers that it is actually your Halloween mask.

I have obviously been influenced by my husband (still so weird calling him that) who loves all things Zombie. He started with Walking Dead from its 1st issue as a comic book. So if you absolutely hate calling it a Zombie Peel, you can attribute it to nearly 2 years of marriage to the Zombie-phil.
