You just had an amazing facial and peel. The peel brightened your skin and has given you a glow. Wow! Just, WOW!

Remember to follow your esthetican/skin care technician post-peel home-care recommendations for optimal results. Its worth investing your money in the right home-care. Your skin will thank
you.

But now! (queue dramatic music *dun-dun-dun*) Relaxing at home you notice an annoying tingling or burning on an area of your face. It's not comfortable. It may be start to look red and feel irritated. What can you do when you can't reach your skin care technician? Worry not! I have the solution.

BEHOLD! The answer in your hands! Your recipe that stops: (queue spooky intro music *wuoo-uuu-ooo*)

"THE RETURN OF THE BURNING FACE PEEL!"

STOP the "Return of the Burning Face Peel" recipe:

Ingredients:

  • Bowl, holds at least 2 cups of liquid
  • Baking Soda, 1 Tablespoon
  • Plain Water, 1 Cup
  • Stirrer, a spoon is a good choice
  • Additional Clear Water as needed

Directions:

  1. In your bowl add your water and baking soda
  2. Blend until the baking soda dissolves
  3. Over your sink apply the solution to any area of burning
  4. DO NOT FREAK OUT IF IT SUDDENLY FEELS WORSE. - a fantastic science experiment will happen when the alkaline solution you made neutralizes the acid peel still on your skin. This reaction stops the burn.
  5. Continue to use the solution until all burning subsides
  6. Rinse well with clear water
  7. Pat dry (queue soothing Spa music "String of Whispers" *aaaahhhh*
Your skin will be soothed, the fire will be doused, the burning calmed.

Hydrate and Protect:

  1. Now apply a gentle hydrating moisturizer recommended by your skin care technician OR
  2. Apply neosporin, polysporin or plain petrolatum/Vaseline to the area.
  3. The next day continue with the skin care instructions you received
  4. Remember to wear your SPF daily. No excuses, you invested in a peel now take care of it.

Optional: if you feel you want to scratch your skin, even after applying neosporin, then:

  1. Gently rinse off the area again and
  2. Apply a thin layer of Hydrocortisone cream to stop the itching

Wear gloves to bed:

You scratch your skin while sleeping, or think you might, then gloves are a sensible bedtime garment. Scratching your post-peel skin will cause new concerns: irritation, bleeding or dark spots.

This recipe works well if:

you have received a MILD PEEL or MODERATE PEEL from your local esthetician, spa or salon.

IMPORTANT NOTE: (ignore at your own risk)

But, If you have received a MEGA PEEL aka CHEMICAL PEEL this is NOT recommended as the Chemical Peels work differently and attempting to neutralize it at home may reduce the expected benefits or do more harm than good.

If you have gotten a medical in-office peel YOU MUST FOLLOW the direction of the Nurse or MD, as the medical peels can be quite different from spa/salon peel treatments and attempting to neutralize it at home may cause a severe reaction or irritation.
Ask the medical staff BEFORE you leave the office.
