Get back pain? 2 simple steps for quick results

Wellness Wednesday for today is a stretch duo for the mid to upper back. Thanks to my client Tina G this tip. 

You can use this stretch duo for muscle strain from lifting and pulling. Great for nurses, massage therapists and furniture movers. Also for gamers, students and smart phone users, that spend hours curled over their devices.

2 Quick, easy stretches for back pain relief now 


The "Cross on the Wall" and "Give yourself a Hug" upper back stretch duo can be done several times a day.

Remember to: 

  • Move gently into the stretch; we want to stretch not tear our muscles. 
  • Hold the position for a few seconds and breathe. 
  • You should feel a gentle stretch but it should never be painful.
  • But if you feel pain stop IMMEDIATELY.


Hunching over our books and computers causes muscles across the front of our chest and shoulders to shorten. This makes it uncomfortable to stand up straight. It also over stretches or hyper extends the muscles in your mid to upper back.

Cross on the Wall


  • Stand facing the wall, in the corner
  • Stretch out both arms, horizontally
  • Place your hands on the opposite walls
  • Gently allow your body to lean into the corner, keep hands steady
  • Feel muscles across your shoulders and chest while you the stretch for a few seconds.


You can gently do the Cross on the Wall stretch a couple of times a day. DONT OVER DO IT. 

Give yourself a hug


  • Stretch out both arms
  • Wrap both arms around yourself
  • Place right arm above left, grasp the left shoulder
  • Place the left arm under the right, grasp below the left shoulder
  • Hold for a few seconds.
  • Repeat the stretch with the left arm above the right.

Maintain balance and strength by stretching the opposing muscles. Stretches help us remain flexible, reduce pain and muscle spasms. They also can prevent our muscles from freezing up.
