Heat


Hot compresses help ease muscle aches. They warm cold tissues, increase blood flow to speed up healing and relieve the throbbing pain sensations.

Don't over heat your hot packs - burns are not welcome. And remember to be very gentle with your stretches and body after using your hot compress. It is easy to forget the pain and overstretch. A re-injury is actually worse for you than the original injury.

NOTE: For immediate injuries - bruise, a sudden tweak; apply a cold pack 1st to reduce the immediate swelling and inflammation. 10 minutes will do the trick. After that, stick to heat.


Epsom Salt Baths


I can't tell you how this works. I can tell you it reduces swelling, bruising and gives immediate relief. When I told this to my hubby - his raised brows proclaimed his disbelief. But after his doctor visit he relayed to me the docs suggestion "Take an Epsom Salt Bath. We don't know how it works. But we do know that it reduces swelling."
