"Preservative-Free!"
You'll find "preservative-free" labels on skincare products claiming to be safer and better for you. But after reading this blog you will cringe the next time you see "Preservative-Free."
Lets make our own "natural, preservative-free" skincare products.
- Go to your farmers market, buy fresh fruit, veggies and dairy. Lets say papayas, cucumbers or rich, creamy milk.
- Now place them on your counter and leave them for 2 months.
- How will they look, or taste, after sitting out for 2 months?
Would you want to eat any of this rotten, moldy trio with its Petri-dish of 'natural' things growing all over them. Do you still want whip them up into your face cream?
It is the same with All NATURAL PRESERVATIVE FREE PRODUCTS - they would go rotten, moldy and become dangerous to apply to your skin and body.
Therefore your products need preservatives to prevent putting dangerous bacteria onto and into your body. So there is not such thing as PRESERVATIVE FREE.
A preservative-free product is either dangerous or a lie. Plus you can not always tell a product has gone bad by sight or smell. It can look fine but still put you in the hospital:
In Spain, 5 people were hospitalized after being infected with a deadly bacteria that came from inadequately preserved cosmetics!
FYI: If want to make your own products remember to refrigerate it and use it within a week.
What do you think of preservative free skincare? Do you make your own products? And if so, what do YOU use as preservatives?
